Job brief
We are URGENTLY seeking a dynamic, versatile, reliable & experienced professional leader to join our team as Construction Head. In this role, he will be the overall head of the project site and responsible for managing the total construction & execution activities of the project. This position reports to the Sr Vice President (Projects) & Projects Head in the
HO.
He will lead all project phases, from planning to completion, ensuring work is done safely, on time, and within budget by managing teams (workers, subcontractors, engineers, managers), overseeing budgets, materials, quality control, safety and compliance with statutory regulations, while solving daily site issues and reporting progress to the
stakeholders (i.e. management & client / PMC).
In essence, the role is about being the central point for all site activities, bridging communication between management, site team and client/ PMC to deliver a successful project.
Roles & responsibilities
- Manage a team of managers & engineers from various functional areas
- Review in depth the contract and other documents to schedule the onsite deliverables.
- Keep a close and constant eye on the project schedule and take suitable steps to meet the timelines.
- Plan, analyze, manage, and mitigate all risks related to the project.
- Oversee all onsite constructions ensuring compliance with the contractual requirements and applicable standards, technical specifications, and safety regulations.
- Ensure that all construction activities align with the established timelines and budget.
- Conduct regular site visits, inspect progress, maintain quality, and ensure adherence to designs and standards
- Implement safety regulations, conduct inspections, minimize risks, and ensure legal compliance
- Coordinate, manage and direct the entire site team including respective team leads (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical & Instrumentation / QA & QC / HSE) , project engineers, supervisors, painting, E&I teams, construction workers and all subcontractors.
- Direct and manage the TPI agency inspectors (appointed by the company) to carry out the required quality checks & audits and submit reports with corrective measures in accordance with the approved ITP.
- Engage with the site team & sub-contractors / agencies for advance planning and ensure timely availability of all resources (manpower, tools, tackles, plant, machinery, raw materials, subcontractors etc) to ensure that work progress does not suffer while avoiding wastage & idling of resources.
- Address day-to-day issues, find solutions, and manage unexpected challenges. Address, resolve and close the issues / concerns / NCRs raised by client / PMC
- Ensure proper reconciliation of all raw materials throughout the project
- Review the work progress on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and take appropriate steps to catch up for any delays.
- Prepare site progress reports, schedule, and maintain project records besides ensuring timely submission of progress reports to the client as well as to the HO.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders i.e. client/ PMC/ external agencies / sub-contractors for job related discussions, permissions, and requirements including work permits.
- Regularly coordinate with and report to the project head /HO about the work status & issues being faced.
- Ensure proper documentation is maintained and project closure is achieved in line with the organizations objectives.

Qualification and other skills
- Bachelors in mechanical engineering, preferably with some PG / certification course in Project Management
- 20-25 years of experience, with minimum 5 years in a Site In charge / Construction Head role in a big project like refinery / chemical manufacturing unit / chemical storage terminal.
- Candidate must have clear understanding of all facets of the construction of a chemical liquid terminal including civil (foundations and buildings), mechanical (tank & structure fabrication), pipeline (cross country & internal), firefighting, electrical, instrumentation & Terminal automation works.
- Candidate must have executed and completed Oil & Gas installations Piping, Storage Tanks, Rotary equipments, Fire Fighting system related composite work project of at least two Process Plant or Chemical / Petroleum Oil Terminals projects in Hydrocarbon Sector (Refineries or Petrochemicals or Gas Processing or Pipeline Terminals Onshore.
- Proven work experience in construction of bulk storage tanks (FCR, IFR, EFR, Dome roof etc), liquid storage terminals, tank farms, pipelines etc in both CS & SS materials.
- Advanced knowledge of construction & quality management processes, means, methods, standards like API 650
- Ability to read minute details and identify discrepancies(if any) in engineering / construction drawings
- Ability to plan and see the big picture by Looking Ahead.
- Competence in conflict and crisis management
- Strong Leadership and human resources management skills
- Good communication & presentation skills (both written & oral) in English & Hindi language
- Deep attention to details and strong organizational skills
